Adella "Della" Beck, 83, of Linton, ND, died September 22, 2024 at her residence.  Funeral service will be held at 10:30am on Monday, September 30, 2024 at First Baptist Church, Linton, ND.  Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00pm on Sunday, September 29, 2024 at Sannes Feist Family Funeral Home. Burial will be held in Linton Cemetery.

Adella "Della" Mae (Kiemele) Beck was born to Ferdinand and Freda (Heer) Kiemele on May 4, 1941, in Linton.   She went to grade school in a one room schoolhouse, often being taken to school on horseback by her teacher, Ray Kiemele.  During her school years she often stayed during the week with the Zoller, James and Tschritter families because access to school was challenging from the farm. She graduated from Linton High School in 1959.

After high school, Della enrolled in a one-year secretarial course at Bismarck Junior College. She was employed for 3 years at the State Capitol working for Public Instruction as a stenographer with her dear lifetime friend, Carole (James) Baumiller. She worked there until she married the love of her life, Leslie Beck, on September 1, 1963, and they made their home on the Beck homestead 6 miles NE of Linton. Leslie and Della poured their lives into the farm until they moved to Linton in 2011. She and Leslie gave all they had to instill their work ethic and Christ-centered beliefs in their three children: John, Jerilyn and Alison. To help support the children through their growing up years, Della raised chickens and sold eggs to many families in and around Linton.

As the children grew older, Della went back to work outside the home taking care of April Larson.  "I just don't member" was a phrase that Della picked up taking care of April and she used it often whenever she forgot something.  Next, she moved on to the pizza shop.  Leslie would always come in to help her clean up whenever she had to close.  Her last job was at Linton Hardware where she worked for many years until she retired. She loved working in the community where she warmly greeted everyone with encouraging words and a big smile. "I say thank you and have a good day" was her famous line to the store patrons.  In addition, Della was a member of the Linton First Baptist Church where she served for years in the children's ministry, the Women's Missionary Fellowship (WMF), and sang in the choir. Della and Leslie sang beautifully together for countless weddings, church functions and funerals over the years.

Precious memories from her children include a never-ending supply of fresh baked goods and interest in their days each day after school, her love of living on the farm with her family, their well ironed nursing uniforms while in nursing school, and the affinity that their classmates had for their mother because she was always so interested in everyone's lives.  Mom never missed our sports events, concerts, piano recitals and 4-H Achievement Day shows.  She delighted in her grandchildren and was very proud of each and every one of them.  She liked things to be clean.  John's college roommates always knew she had been visiting when the apartment smelled of Pine-Sol.

Della is survived by her children; John (Shannon) Beck of Linton, Jerilyn (Will) MacDonald of Bismarck, and Alison (Matthew) Putz of Blaine, MN; her grandchildren Taylor (Jesus) Maggiorani of Linton, John Colton  (Madi) Beck of Linton, Jerrod MacDonald (fiancée Haylie Leier) of Bismarck, Jayden MacDonald of Center, Ty MacDonald of Bismarck, Brennan Putz of Blaine, MN, Coryn Putz of Bozeman, MT and Eryn Putz of Blaine, MN; her great grandson, Jay Maggiorani; her sisters Darlene (Melvin) Loebs of Linton and Dorothy Woehl of Ashley; many nieces and nephews and many cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Leslie Herbert Beck, her parents; Ferdinand and Freda Kiemele, her in-laws; Herbert and Lydia Beck, her brother-in-law, Garry Woehl,  brother and sister-in-law Elroy and Betty Schuetz, her grandparents, and many cousins and friends.
