Alvin Wald, 79, Strasburg, died Monday, March 21, 2011. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 25, 2011 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Hague, ND with Rev. Paul Eberle officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday at Myers Funeral Home, Linton, ND and continue from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the church in Hague where there will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Alvin was born June 19, 1931 in Venturia, ND, the son of Marcus and Katherine (Moch) Wald. He was raised and educated in the Venturia/Zeeland area. He married Rose Mary Senger at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hague on November 24, 1958. Alvin farmed all his life, the first 30 years at his family farm near Venturia and then thirty more years at the Senger family farm. Upon retiring, they moved to Strasburg in 1988. Alvin had a great love for his children and grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with family. He enjoyed horses and riding and had a love for animals. Alvin had a strong faith and church was a big part of his life. He was a lifetime member of Knights of Columbus and was a 3rd Degree Knight at St. Mary's Council 5298. He is survived by his wife: Rose of Strasburg, ND; two sons and one daughter-in-law: Allen and Dorothy Wald who presently reside on the family farm, Hague, ND, and David and his friend Becky Sweet of Lisbon, ND; one daughter, Diane Wald of Bismarck, ND; seven grandchildren: Carissa, Tessa, Marissa, Austin, Ashlee, Cody Wald, Reed Werner; one great grandchild: Layla Wald; one brother and sister-in-law: William and Millie Wald of Venturia, ND; and five sisters and brothers-in-law: Elsie and Adam Gross of Butte, MT, Mary Ann and Joe Gross of Bismarck, ND, Donna and Joe Feist of Napoleon, Ann(Margie) and Sam Piatz of Napoleon and Theresa and Wayne Bates of Butte, MT. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother James and one sister, Phyllis.
