Obituary

Angeline (Burgad) Hager, 92, passed away at the Strasburg Care Center, August 21,2019.

Angeline was born to John Burgad and Katherine Reis on April 5, 1927. She was the second of seven children and as a young girl she was educated in rural country schools.

On February 12, 1947 she married Andrew Hager and together they raised eight children; Shirley, Andrew Jr., Marilyn, John, Joseph, Gary, Karen, and Susan, on the family farm located west of Strasburg.

Angeline "Ange" was a quiet, reserved person, who took great pride in providing a comfortable home for her family and sharing her hospitality with friends and neighbors. She was an excellent cook and could produce a wonderful meal on the spur of the moment when guests arrived unannounced. Like many young wives and mothers of her generation she worked in the fields and provided for her family, without having modern conveniences.

Survivors include her sister Margaret Tschosik, Bismarck, ND; her children, Shirley (Bob) Thompson, Durham, NC, Andrew (Kristy) Hager Jr., LaMoure, ND, Marilyn Hager (James Kuntz), Seattle, WA, John (Sheila) Hager, Bismarck, Gary (Andrea) Hager, Linton, ND, Karen (David) Cameron, Denver, CO, and Sue (Kevin) Bachmeier. Bismarck; daughter-in-law, Julene Miller; 23 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Joe (Katie) Hager; sisters-in-law, Helen Bachmeier, Irene Heidrich, and Carol Herner.

Ange was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Andrew; her son, Joseph; grandson, Stephen Thompson; her sisters, Helen Kramer, Hermina Mattern, and Mary Wikenheiser; and her brothers, Aloys Burgad and John Burgad.

Our sincere thanks go out to the Strasburg Care Center.  The staff at the Care Center are truly amazing.  They cared for our mother as they would for their own.  We are so grateful for all they did for our mom.  We pray for God's blessings on each of them.
