Anna Mary Mastel, 90, resident of Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck, ND died Thursday, June 26, 2014 at St. Alexius Medical Center. Anna Mary was born on September 7, 1923 in Strasburg, North Dakota the daughter of Frank and Elisabeth (Dosch) Rohrich. She was raised and educated in Strasburg and graduated from beauty school in Bismarck in 1943. Anna Mary married George Mastel on August 18, 1951. Following their marriage they lived in Hazelton, North Dakota where they raised their children and where Anna Mary operated a beauty shop out of her home. Anna Mary enjoyed playing cards and visiting with her friends. Remarkably, she was still working in her beauty shop at the age of 89. She moved to her care facility in January of 2014.Anna Mary was a woman of deep faith. She was a member of St Paul's Catholic Church in Hazelton, ND and was active in the Altar Society. She was also a member of the Hazelton Legion Auxiliary.Anna Mary is survived by her children: Greg (Paula) Mastel, Elk River, MN, Adele Kalberer, Hazelton, ND, and Frank (Kimberly) Mastel, Silver Spring, MD; daughter-in-law, Mary Jo Mastel, Cattail Bay, ND; ten precious grandchildren: Tracy, Kate, and Claire Mastel; Jesse (Susan) Kalberer, Janel (James) Silvernagel and Wyatt (Heidi) Kalberer; William Mastel; and Matthew (Laura), Mason, and Michael Mastel; nine great grandchildren; and her siblings, Isabel Glass, Bismarck and Ed Rohrich, Casper, WY. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 43 years, George; and her sons George Jr. and Michael; son-in-law Wayne Kalberer; and her siblings, Regina Braun, Anton Rohrich, and Gen Horner. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials which will be used to honor Anna Mary's life.
