Obituary

Anna Nolz (Zahn), 88, of Linton, took her last breath at home on April 1, 2023. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 28, 2023 at 10:30 AM at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Linton. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Hague following the reception.

Anna was born July 3, 1934 in Hague. She married Francis Nolz on June 21, 1960, in Hague. They operated a dairy and grain farm north of Hague for many years. Anna was an honorable woman, she worked tirelessly on the farm.  Her worthiness was unending, and her heart was always on her five children.  She was a remarkable woman in so many ways.  She was the heart and soul of her family. Anna conquered the battles of life with determination and zeal. No matter the circumstances, all were welcomed with open arms into her home, there was never a dull moment.

Anna took up quilting, she cut up all the fabric in her possession and turned it into quilts. Most of those quilts are still around today. After the loss of her son Sheldon, the farm was sold in 2000. The next journey was moving to Linton, Anna became a social butterfly and made many new friends. She attended events at the Senior Center, participated in a singing group, and did some traveling with various groups. In 2004, they purchased a home in Linton. It was the home her grandchildren remember the most. Easter Sunday scavenger hunts, delicious holiday meals around the kitchen table and of course polka music on Sunday afternoons.  Waking up to grandmas' home cooking, those memories will be cherished.

The family would like to thank CareingEdge Hospice for helping us make her last months of life peaceful. Anna adored every minute of love she received from their staff. Anna's wish to not take her final breath in an institution was granted by her family and this group of gracious people.

Anna is now in reunited with her husband Francis, her sons' Sheldon and Sherwin, her granddaughter Myia Herman, her parents Constantine and Barbara (Goldade) Zahn, many brothers and sisters. She was extremely proud of her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Sheila (Gordy) Herman, Bismarck; Steven Nolz, Bismarck; Sherlene Nolz, Mandan: Grandchildren: Brandon Nolz, Bismarck; Jacob Herman, Bismarck; and Ariana (Travis) Pearson, Moorhead, MN. Brother: Ben Johs, Linton; In-laws: Pius Nolz, Andy Nolz and Helen Wolf; many nieces and nephews. Also, dear neighbors and friends that helped her remain independent for all these years.
