Anton "Tony" Bernhardt, 94, of Linton, ND passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 29, 2022, surrounded by his family.

Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, February 4, 2022, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Linton, ND, with Father Jordan Dosch officiating. Myers Funeral Home of Linton will be live streaming Tony's service for any family and friends that can't attend at www.Myersfh.com under Tony's obituary.

Visitation will be held Thursday, February 3, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with prayer service/rosary starting at 7:00 p.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Linton, ND.

Burial will take place at the St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery with military honors following the service.

Anton F. Bernhardt was born on June 17, 1927, to William and Rosie (Kuntz) Bernhardt on the family farm outside of Linton.

In April 1951 Tony joined the United States Army and after being honorably discharged he returned home to Emmons County where he met Sally, the love of his life and on September 22, 1954, Tony married Sally Bichler, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Linton, ND. Tony and Sally raised nine children together on the family farm. He was a steward of the land and loved spending time on the farm where he tended to his grain and cattle. He was very proud of the farm and took pride in everything he did. After several years on the farm Tony and Sally decided in 1988 that they would move to town.

Tony could accomplish anything he put his mind to and after his retirement he began his love of woodworking. Making several unique pieces, including dollhouses, windmills, Model T cars, golfcarts, rocking chairs, horse buggies, corrals, harnesses and he loved to play the harmonica and his grandkids loved to dance to his music.

Tony was a lifetime member of the American Legion, Post 54 in Linton ND and the Knights of Columbus, Council 5955. He enjoyed many things from golfing, snowmobiling, dancing, playing cards, ice fishing and pickling the northern he would catch.

Tony always had a smile on his face, and a wonderful sense of humor. He was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. His family meant everything to him and his greatest passion above all were his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His eyes would always light up when he seen his grandkids and loved to sing and rock the little ones. Tony's grandchildren will always remember his famous omelets that he would cook them for breakfast and the after-dinner Hershey's chocolates he would give them.

Tony is survived by his wife, Sally of 67 years; 9 children, Deb (Terry) Ibach, Connie (Spud-Robert) Gruman, Julie (Scott) McCarren, Kevin (Ann) Bernhardt, Bill (Deb) Bernhardt, Tony (Brenda) Bernhardt, Joe (Karla) Bernhardt, Richard (Sheila) Bernhardt and Lisa (Kelly) Marthaller; 25 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren; Brother Willie Bernhardt; sisters Phyllis Werner, Francis Kuntz and Alvina Schaff; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents William and Rosie (Kuntz) Bernhardt; Granddaughter Mariya Bernhardt; brothers, Sebastian Bernhardt, Lee Bernhardt, George Bernhardt, Jackie Bernhardt; sisters, Regina Bernhardt, Rose Marie Sperle and Helen Bernhardt.
