Bernadine "Bernie" Scherr, 88, formerly of Hazelton, ND, died April 9, 2013 in a Bismarck Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am Saturday, April 13, 2013 at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Hazelton with Fr. David Richter officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 12:00pm to 4:00pm at Myers Funeral Home and from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at the church. There will be a prayer service at 7:30pm Friday. Bernie was born on April 11, 1924 in Linton, ND, the daughter of John and Katherine (Burgad) Schiele. She was raised and educated east of Linton where she attended country school. Bernie married Anton "Tony" Scherr at the Rosenthal Church, rural Linton on June 18, 1946. They made their home on a farm northwest of Hazelton. Bernie and Tony retired from farming in 1981 but continued to live on the farm. Tony died on January 8, 1988. Bernie continued to live on the farm until moving to Bismarck in January of 2012. She had been a resident of Edgewood Vista. Bernie died April 9, 2013 at St. Alexius Medical Center. She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church. She enjoyed driving school bus for many years, playing cards, babysitting, attending her grandchildren's sporting events, helping out on the farm and cooking for family gatherings and spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law: Dennis Scherr and special friend, Cheryl Horner, Bismarck, ND, DeWayne and Wanda Scherr, Hazelton, ND, Edward Scherr, Hazelton, ND, Rodney Scherr, Bismarck, ND, Alan and Cheryl Scherr, Mohall, ND; daughters and sons-in-law: Kathleen and Brian Dralle, Moffit, ND, Elaine and Gary Markwart, Bismarck, ND, Lillian and Darrel Sehn, Linton, ND and Corrine and Scott Baumiller, Hazelton, ND; seventeen grandchildren: Darin (Lisa) Scherr, Denise (Charlie) Barry, Sarah (Michael) Schmitcke, Heidi (Wyatt) Kalberer, Heather (Eric) Nieuwsma, Valerie Scherr and fiance' Bryce Weber, Amanda and Ryan Dralle, Andrea Markwart, Allison and Anthony Scherr, Brandon, Cody and Tanner Sehn, and Travis, Jared and Cole Baumiller; six great-grandchildren: Michael, Kaytlin, Taylor, Logan, Brecken, and another on the way; sisters-in-law: Alice Gimbel, Bismarck, ND and Doris Schiele, Moorhead, MN; brother-in-law: Emil Ternes, Bismarck, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Tony in 1988; brothers: Edward and Alvin; sisters and brother-in-law: Hermina Ternes and Catherine and Herb Daul.
