Bernell Will "Oompie" passed away on October 26, 2024, at Caittail Resort in Linton, North Dakota, at the age of 64.  Memorial services to celebrate Bernell's life will be held at 10:30am on Friday, November 1, 2024 at Peace Lutheran Church, Linton, ND with Pastor Sean Barnhart officiating.  Burial will be in the Linton Cemetery.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Friday.

He was born on September 19, 1960, in Bismarck, North Dakota, to Edwin and Irene (Ackerman) Will.  Bernell graduated from high school in 1978 and pursued automotive technology at Bismarck State College. He proudly served in the North Dakota Army National Guard from 1978 to 1984, achieving the rank of Specialist 4 in the Ruff Riders Division.

On April 11, 1980, Bernell married Rosalie Goetz, and together they welcomed their only son, Jesse Will, on July 5, 1981. Although Bernell and Rosalie divorced in 1991, they remained committed to co-parenting Jesse.

In the mid-1990s, Bernell moved to Alaska, where he lived for about a decade, enjoying the beauty of the outdoors and making lasting memories.

Bernell will always be remembered for his vibrant personality and infectious sense of humor. He had a knack for making people laugh, often greeting them with his famous line, "Oy!"  "Cheese n Rice"  "Hoorah"

He is survived by his son, Jesse Will (Amanda Brown and her son Mason) all of Carson City, NV; his brothers, Lelyn Will (Debbie) and Carlyle Will (Linda) and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Irene Will; his grandparents, Henry and Sophia Will and Dave and Rosina Ackerman, along with many aunts and uncles.
