Bernice Elma, 98, passed away, Sunday, October 11, 2020 at the Strasburg Care Center.

Graveside service for Bernice will be Thursday, October 15, at 2:00 p.m. at the Fairview City Cemetery with Pastor Keith Hall Officiating.

Bernice Elma was born February 11, 1922 on a farm 8 miles Northeast of Herreid to Edward and Rose (Bickel) Quaschnick. She attended farm school through the 8 ^th grade. On November 26, 1942 she married Edwin E Goehring. They farmed 8 miles NW of Herreid until 1956 and than they moved to Herreid, SD.

Bernice worked at the City Bowling Alley Café for 2 years and in 1971 through 1997 she was the cook at the Herreid School. She was a life-long member of the Herreid Baptist Church. She enjoyed making quilts for her children and grandchildren.

Bernice is survived by her two daughters, Carol (Norman) Schick, Herried, SD, and Joyce (Jerry) Ochsner, Rapid City, SD; her grandchildren, Dale (Nina) Schick, Jeff (Peggy) Schick, Sue (ED) Nelson, Russell (Kristen) Schick, Sheila (Brandon) Bertch, Pam (Randy) Corwell, and Robin Ochsner; Great gran-children, Cory Schick, Dominic Schick, Courtney Schick, Jessica Schick, Devin Nelson, Samantha Miller, Summer Schick, Emma Schick, Brady Schick, Trevor Schick, Braydon Bertch, Bayle Bertch, Autumn Bertch, Ryan Crowell, Reese Corwell, Kaylee Nogai, and Kelsey Nogai; Great great- grandchildren, Macy Miller, Grant Miller, Rylie Schick, Jade Schick, and Owen Schick.
