Obituary

Bertha Scherr, 84, Strasburg, ND, died Monday, January 24, 2011 in the Strasburg Care Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, January 27, 2011 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Strasburg, ND. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Myers Funeral Home, Linton, ND. Bertha was born December 13, 1926 in Strasburg, ND, the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Kramer) Volk. She attended school in Strasburg. Bertha married Eugene Scherr in Underwood, ND on September 28, 1948. Following their marriage they moved to Milwaukee where they lived for 30 years. They retired in December of 2002. Eugene died March 27, 2003. Bertha enjoyed playing cards, crocheting and an occasional trip to Mobridge to the casino. She was a member of Christian Mothers and St. Marys Society. Bertha died peacefully at the Strasburg Care Center on January 24, 2011. We thank the Strasburg Care Center for their care, service and protection. The entire staff conducted themselves with the most loving care. Bertha is survived by one son and daughter-in-law: Ronnie and Renee Scherr of Milwaukee, WI; three daughters and two sons-in-law: Linda Scherr-Clawson and John of Billings, MT; Bonnie and David Madarich of Denver, CO and Mary Jane Scherr of Denver, CO; three grandchildren, Ben, Ryan and Gina Scherr all fo Milwaukee, WI and two great grandchildren, Caden Scherr and Ryder Scherr; one brother and sister-in-law: Henry and Phyllis Volk of Portland, OR; and three sisters and one brother-in-law: Ann Burgad of Bismarck, ND, Helen Johs of Springfield, OR and Esther and Ed Loeb of Redding, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Eugene, a brother Wendolin and a sister Martina Kuss.
