Betty (Adams) Johnson, Strasburg, formerly of Hazelton, ND, died peacefully on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at the Strasburg Care Center at the age of 81. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at the Myers Funeral Home Chapel, Linton, ND. Betty was born July 18, 1930, at Valley City, ND, to William "Bill" and Genevieve (Crandell) Adams. She was the oldest of nine children and also had a half brother and half sister. Betty grew up in the Braddock area and worked for area farmers. On June 8, 1952, she married Melvin F. Johnson. They lived for a year near Persian Lake, working for a farmer. They then moved to the Andrew Damsgaard farm where Betty had been working prior to marriage. They lived and farmed there until 1993 when they moved to Hazelton and have resided there since. In November, 2010, Betty entered the Strasburg Care Center. Betty loved to cook, bake, garden, sew, can, crochet and knit, make quilts and grow flowers. She always had a fresh pot of coffee on and fresh baked goods on hand when she welcomed in visitors and neighbors. She loved company. She baked awesome bread, donuts, pies and wonderful fried chicken. Betty and Melvin were blessed with three daughters, Connie (Ken) Wolbaum, Braddock, ND, Cletis (Herman) Kauk, Wishek, ND, and Delores (Duane) Kalina, Alexandria, MN. They were also blessed with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Betty is now an angel to her husband, Melvin of 59 years, her three daughters, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and eight brothers and sisters. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Bill and Frank Adams, one grandson, Melvin Kauk and step-father, Neil Baker.
