Caroline Seiler, 88, Herreid, SD, died Tuesday, June 9, 2015 in Aberdeen, SD. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 13, 2015 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Herreid, SD. Burial will be in the church cemetery. There will be visitation at 6 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2015 at the church. Caroline Weigel Seiler was born in Zeeland, ND to Joseph and Mary (Welder) Weigel on November 7, 1926. She was raised and educated in the Zeeland area. On June 28th, 1948 she married Mike J. Seiler at St. John's Catholic Church at Zeeland. They lived on a farm eight miles northwest of Herreid. In 1988 they moved into Herreid. Mike died in August, 2003. Caroline loved to play games with her grandchildren, in which she never won a game, 'til it came to checkers, she earned the title "winner." She also loved bingo. She enjoyed dancing and Sunday night gatherings. Caroline helped and worked hard on the farm. She also was a very good baker and cook. Her specialties were kuchen, brownies and homemade bread. Her favorite times were holiday's when her kids and grandkids came home. Caroline was a member of St. Michael's Church and St. Michael's Altar Society. She worked at the Good Samaritan Society for 28 years. In September 2013, Caroline entered the Herreid Good Samaritan Society until May, 2015 when she went to live at Aberdeen Health and Rehab. Caroline is survived by four children, Dean and Judy Seiler of Parkville, MO, Linda and Dean Wittmeier of Aberdeen, SD, Jean and Brad Blow of Pierre, SD, and Jim and Kim Seiler of Aberdeen, SD, nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike, her parents, seven brothers and one sister.
