Chad Jonathon
Ochsner
Feb 21, 1991 — Jul 23, 2023
Chad J. Ochsner, 32, formerly of Herreid, SD, died July 23, 2023 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am, Saturday, July 29, 2023 at Herreid Community Center, Herreid, SD with Pastor Cody Schwichtenberg officiating. Burial will be in the Freiden Heinz Cemetery. There will be a prayer service at 7:00pm on Friday, July 28 at Sannes Feist Family Funeral Home, Linton.
Chad was born on February 21, 1991 in Linton, ND, the son of Bruce & Mardel (Hollaar) Ochsner. He was raised and educated in Herreid. He grew up helping out on the family farm. He attended Western Dakota Technical College in Rapid City, SD to pursue a welding degree. Chad lived in various communities in North Dakota where he worked as a farmhand, truck driver and most recently in construction.
Chad enjoyed working with or playing around with anything that had an engine. Such as, motorcycles, snowmobiles, four wheelers and tractors. Sometimes his toys ran when he was done tickering and some never ran again. He enjoyed the outdoors, music, long boarding, and most of all spending time with his family and friends.
Chad had the kind of smile that made his whole face light up, he was mischievous, and had a heart of gold. He always felt things a little deeper and more literally than most. As Chad grew older and struggled with addiction we saw less of the twinkle and more of the sadness. Shame for past failures, guilt for past mistakes, and just plain sadness. If only this time he could have beat the darkness….
Chad is survived by his parents: Bruce and Mardel Ochsner of Herreid, SD; his daughter, Aryana Ochsner of Mandan, ND; a brother Tyler (Lisa) Ochsner of Herreid, SD; 2 sisters: Makendra Ochsner of Aberdeen, SD and Nicole Ochsner (fiancée' Corey Graff) of Herreid, SD; nephew, Levi Ochsner and niece, Natalie Ochsner; grandfathers: Cornell Ochsner of Herreid, SD and Jim Hollaar of Hull, ND and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandmothers: Nettie Ochsner and Mildred Hollaar and his uncle, Curt Hollaar.
