Charles "Charlie" Abell, 96, of Linton, ND, died on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at the Linton Hospital. Funeral service will be at First Baptist Church, on Monday, January 12, 2026, at 10:30AM. Visitation will be held one hour prior at the church. Burial will be in the Linton City Cemetery. The service will be livestreamed at www.sannesfeistfh.com.

Charlie was born on June 14, 1929, in Logan County to Robert and Alvina (Pudwill) Abell. He was raised and educated in Logan County.

His career began in South Dakota working for a diversified stock and grain plant with 400 head of cattle. Charlie later moved to Linton and worked for Goetz Buick & Jeep. Where he honed his mechanical skills and built a reputation for quality workmanship. From 1958 to 1964, he partnered with his brother Alvin to operate a salvage yard as a mechanic, exemplifying the spirit of hard work and family collaboration. Charlie continued his journey in the automotive industry at Universal Garage for 5 years and later contributed to the Temvic elevator for 11 years. His skills were sought after by Bud Hutton in Towner, ND, where he purchased cables for telephone and powerlines.

On July 5, 1969, Charlie married Lillian Beitelspacher at the First Baptist Church. This union brought joy and companionship into his life, and Lillian remained a significant part of his journey until her passing in September of 2016.

Charlie was not just defined by his career; he possessed a wide array of interests that enriched his life. He had a deep appreciation for country music and western movies. Additionally, he had a knack for all things mechanic, taking pleasure in understanding and working with various vehicles and machines.

Surviving Charlie are his son, Gene Abell, and stepson, Larry Beitelspacher, his brother, Bird Abell, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Charlie was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lillian, as well as his parents, brothers Robert, Lawrence, Fred, William, and Alvin, and sisters Mary Brinkman, Emma Tergesen, and Arlene Tergesen, along with two stillborn siblings.

Charlie Abell's legacy is one of hard work, dedication, and love for family remembering, dates, names and places also known as the family historian. He will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
