Clara Scherr, 93, Aberdeen, SD, formerly Linton, ND, died Friday June 3, 2011 at Manor Care, Aberdeen, SD. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at St. Anthony's Cathlic Church, Linton, N, with Monsignor Jeff Wald officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Myers Funeral Home where there will be a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour before service time at the church on Tuesday. Clara was born December 29, 1917, the daughter of Vincent and Mary Ann (Vetter) Schmidt, on a farm near Napoleon, ND, where she was raised and educated. She worked in the Willows Hotel. Clara married Ralph Scherr on September 29, 1945 at Ft. Harrison, IN. They made their home in Linton where she did janitorial work at the St. Anthony Catholic School and Linton Public Schools until May of 1980. Ralph died June 27, 1993. Clara was a member of Christian Mother's Society. She moved to Aberdeen in August of 2005, living in the Homestead Apartments where she was active in their activities. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, cooking, and playing cards. She especially loved visits from family and grandchildren. Clara is survived by one son and daughter-in-law: Matthew and Mary Ann Scherr of Marshall, MN; three daughters and two sons-in-law: Mary and Darrel Schulz, Rose Olson, and Clare and Dennis Wald, all of Aberdeen, SD; 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild ; and one sister, Christine Flood of Bismarck, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, four sisters and one son-in-law, Ken Olson.
