Obituary

Darlene Mees, 70, of Linton, ND, died March 17, 2024 at her home.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at Sannes Feist Family Funeral Home, Linton with Pastor Sean Barnhart officiating.

Darlene "Dar" was born Darlene Gertie Mosset to Nick and Elizabeth Mosset in Linton ND on May 3, 1953. The youngest of 8 children. Her oldest brother Andy got to name her. They moved off the farm to Bismarck, ND when she was 4 years old.

Dar graduated from St. Mary's High School (not by choice) Nick wanted at least one of his kids to complete parochial school.  He told her you're going and you're paying for it. She said, "The hell I am!"  He paid for it.

She married Tom Liebel on August 13, 1971. To this union brought two daughters, Jessica Schwartz and Nicole Liebel. She later married Richard Mees on December 2, 1988. They had one son, Michael Mees.

She did a variety of jobs throughout her life.  Her last was as owner/operator of the Happy Hour Bar in Linton, ND.   Dar was extremely outgoing, independent, headstrong and very creative. She could do anything from sewing on a button to framing a door.  She was strong and quick witted, bringing her to the nickname "The Whip."

She could bullshit her way through just about anything. She had a way of connecting with people that made you feel like you've known her forever and felt "at home."  She excelled at taking no crap from anyone and playing pranks on people (which she did very well!  All them Mosset's are good at that).  She made the best kuchen in the world.  She loved meeting new people, telling jokes, dancing, pool, horseshoes and music.

Dar is survived by her husband, Richard Mees of Linton ND; her daughters, Jessica Schwartz (Chad Stern), Mandan ND and Nicole Liebel, Bismarck ND; her son, Michael Mees, Linton; her sisters, Celestina Amelia Wolf (Charlie Weichel), Bismarck ND and Bernadette Florence (Chuck) Owens, Thompson Falls, MT; her brother, Robert Joseph Mosset, Des Moines IA; her sisters-in-law, Linda Mosset, Wishek ND, Charmaine Mosset, Linton, ND and Sandy Mosset, CO; her grandson, Adam Schwartz, Mandan ND and many nieces and nephews,

She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Euvagh Wenzel Mosset; brothers, Andrew Mosset, Melvin Bernard Mosset, Dennis Daniel Mosset, and one sister, Helen Catherine Cavanugh.
