David Fischer, 73, of Mandan, ND, went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 2, 2024 at CHI St. Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck, ND. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, October 7, 2024 at Sannes Feist Family Funeral Home, Linton, ND. Burial will be in St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery following the services.
David was born on January 14, 1951, the son of Wendelin and Magdalena (Rohrich) Fischer. He was raised and educated in Strasburg, living on the family farm. At a young age, he developed polio. He spent summers at Camp Grassick in Dawson, ND. He enjoyed his time there and would go back for yearly picnics.
David attended Minot State University and transferred to the University of Mary where he received his teaching degree. He taught in the public school district for a few years and did numerous substitute teachings at various schools for years.
David loved to attend sporting events or watch them on tv. He refereed volleyball games. He organized pool tournaments at Edgewood and loved to sing Karaoke. He was a very intelligent, kind and funny guy. He enjoyed visiting with family and friends and loved swimming at the YMCA.
He appreciated spending many holidays with LeRoy and Helen and their family, catching up with the nieces and nephews and entertaining everyone with his jokes.
David is survived by his brother, LeRoy (Helen) Fischer; sisters: Yvonne Gefroh, Janice Holte, Ginger (Chuck) Stout, Virginia Schaefer, Eleanor (Ken) Feist and Barbara (Dan) Silbernagel; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers-in-law: Alvin Gefroh and Gene Schaefer; nieces and nephews: Mark Gefroh, Joshua Silbernagel, Daron Schaefer, Diane Holte and Payton Grandstrand.
The family would like to thank Edgewood for the care they gave to David while he lived there.
