Dean Dockter, 79, of Linton, ND, passed away peacefully December 6, 2022 at St. Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck, with his family by his side. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 12, 2022 at 10:30 AM at Linton United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be held at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. A Livestream of Dean's funeral service will be available on the funeral home website.

Dean Dennis Dockter was born July 3, 1943 in Bismarck to Arthur and Beulah (Nelson) Dockter. He grew up in Linton where he attended Linton Public School. Following high school Dean enlisted in the US Army in 1960 and was honorably discharged in 1964. He married Judy Sauter on July 24, 1966 at First Baptist Church, Linton. To this union they were blessed with three children; Jody, Jill and Jack. In July of 1967 Dean along with his brother Wally took over Dockter's Jack & Jill Store from their father. Together they continued to run the store until 1990. Dean went on to work in maintenance department at the Linton Hospital for many years until retiring.

Dean enjoyed visits from his kids, grandkids and great-grand baby, Bryson, along with helping Judy prepare meals for family get togethers. He could spend hours watching boats go down the river, along with birds and squirrels in his back yard. He also enjoyed watching the Minnesota Vikings, Wheel of Fortune, Price is Right, Jeopardy and old Westerns. He was also a Lifetime member of the Linton Fire Department.

Dean is survived by his wife of 57 years, Judy Dockter, Linton; children, Jody Huizenga (Curt Reeff), Linton, Jill (Paul) Holzer, Linton and Jack (Connie) Dockter, Linton; grandchildren, Haleigh (Mason) Ryckman, Erik, Ryan and Nathan Holzer, Hunter and Harris Huizenga and Allie and Zach Dockter; great-grandson, Bryson Ryckman; sisters, Goldie (Bill) Nerpel, Texas and Jan (Richard) Smith, Linton; brother-in-law, Terry Gimbel, Bismarck; brother-in-law, Brian (Toni) Sauter, Bismarck; sister-in-law, Linda (Mike) Schumacher and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Beulah Dockter; brother and sister-in-law, Wally and Barb Dockter; sister, Paulette Gimbel; and his father and mother-in-law Edwin and Dorothy Sauter.
