Obituary

Delvin Van Beek, 87, passed away August 6, 2020, at the Strasburg Care Center.

A private family service will be held at 9:00 am on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at First Baptist Church, Linton, ND.

Delvin Van Beek was born February 2, 1933 to Gerrit and Winnie (Wolf) Van Beek on a farm in the Westfield area.  He attended grade school at Hill School.  Delvin grew up as the son of a farmer.

Delvin married Marlene Haan on March 6, 1953.  Together they raised 2 sons Gary and Randy and a daughter Janell.  Delvin and Marlene rented land until 1961 when they moved their young family to Lynden, WA.  Missing his family and friends they returned to the Strasburg area in 1962.  Delvin worked as a bulk fuel truck driver for the Strasburg Elevator until the fall of 1966 when he bought the farm where he lived until November of 2000.  His wife Marlene passed away in a farm accident on June 7, 1985.

On September 22, 1989 Delvin married Janet (Jan) Carlson Fleckenstein. Jan passed away on September 24, 1999.  Delvin retired from farming that fall in 1999.

On November 25, 2000 Delvin married Judy Sauter at their home in Linton surrounded by their children and grandchildren.

Grateful to have share in his life were his wife,  Judy, and sons; Gary (Charlotte) Maplewood, MN, Randy (Bonnie) Twin Brooks, SD; and daughter, Janell Van Beek rural Moorhead, MN; 3 step-sons, David Graber, Jamestown, ND, Daren (Cherie) Graber, Fredonia, ND, Doug (Katy) Graber, Apple Valley, MN; grandchildren, Ryan (Cecile) Van Beek, April (Matt) Johnson, Gail Van Beek,  Jessica (Chad) Coon, Daryl (Maddie) Van Beek, Ashley (Brandon) Baker, Marlayna and Pierceson Van Beek, Kyle (Alisha) Graber, Lisa (Brandon) Slaughter, Tara (Jason) Wentland, Jesse (Samantha) Graber, and Luke Graber, Briana, Isabella, Samantha, and Mahlet Graber; great grandchildren, Oliver, Anne and Dexter; Olivia, Noah, Garrett and Gavin; Grace and Brinkson; Brooklyn, Olivia and Brynlee; Elliette and Briar; Gunner, Layla and Kali; brother, Don (Doris Ann); sisters, Jean Dykema, Doris (Dennis) Dykema and Wilma Tommie; brother-in-law, Ron Schulz.

Delvin is preceded in death by his spouse of 32 years, Marlene; former spouse Janet; children, Allen and Linda; his parents, Gerrit and Winnie; sisters, Marilyn and Pearl; brother-in-law, Marvin Dykema; and two great-grand-children, Nevaeh Graber and Baby Coon.
