Dennis Mittleider, 84, of Herreid, SD, died March 19, 2025, at the Linton Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 24, 2025, at 10:30 am at Herreid Baptist Church, Herreid, SD. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery, Herreid.

Dennis was born February 24, 1941, at Mobridge, SD to Walter and Leah (Sayler) Mittleider. He was raised on a farm west of Herreid and graduated from Herreid High School in 1959. He married Virginia Ryckman on March 4, 1962, in Pollock, SD. Together they farmed and raised their three children: Rick, Velvet and Janet. Dennis was also part owner of the original snowmobile shop and the original Herreid Livestock.

He enjoyed doing his guided hunting and fishing trips and spending time with his family and friends.

Dennis is survived by his three children, Rick Mittleider, Herreid, Velvet Langeliers, Pollock and Janet (John) Johnson, Pollock; four grandchildren, Nikala (Josh) Phillips, Kelsey (Nick Volk) Langeliers, Kami (Chris Fettig) Johnson and Jeremy Johnson; four great grandchildren, Dylan Fettig, Kenadee Fettig, Greyson Volk and Carter Phillips; one brother, Larry (Patty) Mittleider; one sister, Bonnie (Dennis ) Quaschnick; six sisters-in-law, Penny Mittleider, Polly Becker, Phyllis Schatz, Carol (Llyod) Schaner, Arlene Cullen and Patty (Arvin) Kilen; one brother-in-law, Tom Ryckman.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Virginia Mittleider, grandson, Lance Cole Langeliers; mother and father-in-law, Archie and Gertrude Ryckman; brother, Aldine Mittleider; two sisters-in-law, Loretta Westbrook and Evie Backhaus; and five brothers-in-law, Lester Westbrook, Donnie Becker, Ronnie Backhaus, Mike Cullen and Rueben Schatz.
