Donald "Don" Weichel, 77, of Strasburg, ND, died August 16, 2024 at CHI St. Alexius Hospital, Bismarck, ND. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am, Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Strasburg, ND with Fr. Mark Aune officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5pm to 7pm on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at Sannes Feist Family Funeral Home, Linton, ND. There will be a vigil/rosary at 7pm. There will be a livestream of the funeral service on this website under the obituary.
Donald "Don" was born on May 9, 1947 to Lawrence & Rose (Selzler) Weichel. He was the oldest of four siblings. He grew up on the family farm and attended Strasburg Public School, finishing with his GED.
He started his working career at Dakota Brewery in Bismarck, when the business closed, he moved back to Strasburg. He worked for several businesses including: Strasburg Lumber Yard, Millers Station, he bartended weddings at the Blue Room, security officer for many occasions at the Blue Room, a janitor at the Strasburg Public School, Mals Ag & Auto, Schmaltz Meats and worked for many area farmers.
Don enjoyed watching western movies and going to car shows. He took a lot of pride in his vehicles, always washing and polishing them. His favorite color was red.
Don was a 4th Degree Knight with the Strasburg Knights of Columbus, served over 20 years on the Strasburg Fire Department and served on the Strasburg Park Board for over 20 years. He was a member of the Strasburg Lions Club for many years and a lifelong member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church.
Don is survived by his siblings: Linda (Robert) Ripplinger, Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, Betty Ann (Lloyd) Brodt, Regina Beach, Saskatchewan, Canada and Leonard (Cleo) Weichel, Strasburg, ND; nine nieces and nephews and 15 great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at the Strasburg Care Center
for the years of taking care of Donald.
