Doris Van Beek, 79, formerly of Linton, ND, died August 26, 2024 at a Bismarck Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am, Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at Hope Reformed Church, Westfield, ND with Pastor Randall Cloud officiating. Burial will be in the Westfield Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5pm to 7pm on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at Sannes Feist Family Funeral Home, Linton. There will be a prayer service at 7pm. Doris was born on July 10, 1945 in Linton, the daughter of Jake T. and Dorothy (Wenda) Fuhrer. She was raised and educated in Herreid, SD, she attended school in Herried, graduating from Herreid High School in 1962. She married Arlyn Van Beek on August 15, 1963 at Hope Reformed Church in Westfield, ND. Following their marriage, they lived in Strasburg and later moved to a farm 1 mile north of the Baker School before moving to Pollock, SD in 1967. While in Pollock, Doris was a stay at home mom, who loved to be with her children. She also operated a home daycare adding other children to the daily mix. The family moved east of Pollock in 1980 and resided on a farm until moving to the family farm in 1993. Doris worked at the Strasburg Care Center in the dietary department before becoming a CNA. She worked at the care center until 2006.
Doris and Arlyn moved to Linton in 2013, where they resided until moving to Bismarck where she lived until her death.
Doris enjoyed gardening, as she had acres of flowers and a garden planted. She loved to sew, making suits for Arlyn for basketball games he coached and a new suit for each tournament game. She enjoyed caring for little kids, music, cooking and spending time with her family and friends.
Doris spent many years as a Sunday school teacher, a 4H Leader, vacation bible school musician, RCYF leader, a member of RCW and a member of the Linton Senior Citizens.
Doris is survived by her husband of 61 years, Arlyn, Linton; children: Michelle (Mark) Fercho, Linton, Shannon (John) Beck, Linton, Arlyn (Pam) Van Beek, Mandan and Rick (Donna) Van Beek, Strasburg; grandchildren: Ilea (Ethan) Fercho, Nicholas Fercho, Taylor (Jesus) Maggiorani, John Colton (Madison) Beck, Justin (Janie) Van Beek, Haily (Brookes) Van Beek, Alexis Van Beek, Weston Van Beek, Megan Van Beek and Madison Van Beek; a great grandson, Jay Maggiorani; sisters-in-law: Joanne Fuehrer and Barb Fuhrer and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, LesterJake; her parents; brothers: Donald Fuehrer and James Fuhrer.
