Dorothy Watterud, 98, formerly of Columbus, ND, died March 4, 2011 at the Strasburg Care Center. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00pm Saturday, April 30 2011 at Faith Lutheran Church, Columbus, ND. Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Columbus. Visitation will be one hour before the services at the church. Dorothy was born May 8, 1912 on a farm south of Columbus, ND, the daughter of Nils and Katrina Kleppen. She attended country school. Dorothy married Ovallie Watterud in Columbus, ND on January 24, 1934. They lived on the farm south of Columbus for 15 years before moving into Columbus. Dorothy baked pastries for the local caf for many years. Following Ovallie's death in 1980 she moved to Center. She was a longtime member of Faith Lutheran church in Columbus. In October of 2004, she moved to Linton, ND and resided in the Prairie Rose Assisted Living Apartments. She entered the Strasburg Care Center in July of 2008 where she lived until her death. Dorothy enjoyed doing word searches, playing Rummikub and quilting. She especially enjoyed visiting with her family and friends. Dorothy died March 4, 2011 at the Strasburg Care Center. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law: Jennene and Don Kammerzell of Laurel, MT and Muriel and Norris Anderson of Linton, ND; five grandchildren: Daren Nelson, Jerry (Janell) Nelson, Kay (Mike) Harms, Norita (Randy) Berger and Nolan (Lori) Anderson; eight great-grandchildren: Jessica and D.J. Nelson, Abby and Chris Nelson, Anthony and Kelsey Harms, Tyler Berger and Karady Anderson; and one great great-grandson, Anthony J. Nelson; She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one grandson, Noland; four brothers, Sievert, Jacob, Magne and Elmer; and six sisters: Eva, Nelsie, Mabel, Hilma, Olga and Borghild and one son-in-law: Darryl Nelson.
