Douglas W. Peterson, 39, of Pollock, SD, died December 20, 2012 in the Linton Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am Monday, December 24, 2012 at Pollock High School, Pollock, SD with Reverend Floyd Haan officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 9:00am to 4:00pm at Myers Funeral Home, Linton and from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at the church with a prayer service at 7:00pm. Douglas Wayne Peterson was born on December 2, 1973 in Linton, ND, the son of Donald and Mary (Vander Vorste) Peterson. He was raised and educated in Pollock where he graduated from Pollock High School in 1992. He worked with his family at Peterson Farms Trucking. He later attended Bismarck State College where he graduated with a degree in heating and air conditioning. Doug returned to Pollock in 1996 where he worked for his dad. Doug married Lyndel Prasek on September 27, 1997 in Pollock, SD. Following their marriage, he worked for Dakota Stainless. Together they were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Bailey born on September 30 and Mary born on December 27. Doug and Lyndel moved to Bismarck in 2003 where he worked for Coca-Cola . They returned to Pollock where they owned and operated the Sandbar and the Fin and Feather. It was at the Fin and Feather that he perfected his steak grilling. He also ran his dad's stack mover. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He was a member of Pollock Memorial Presbyterian Church, the Son's of American Legion and the Pollock Men's Club. He is survived by his wife, Lyndel, Pollock, SD; two daughters: Bailey Dacota (13) and Mary Margaret (9), both of Pollock, SD; his father and step-mother: Donald Peterson (Judy Umber), Strasburg, ND; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Nick and Jackie Peterson, Gillette, WY and Dan and Sheila Peterson, Gillette, WY; one sister and brother-in-law: Tori and Terry Madden, Mound City, SD; mother-in-law: Betty Prasek, Pollock, SD; father-in-law: Delbert (Peggy) Prasek, Bismarck, ND; two sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Brenda Hague (Tan Davis), Pollock, SD and Rhonda (Clay) Ulrich, Bismarck, ND and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary; a brother, Chuck Peterson; his grandparents: John and Leona Peterson and Ted and Margaret Vander Vorste.
