Eddie W. Kramer Sr., 89, of Strasburg, ND, died on Friday, January 20, 2017 at CHI St. Alexius in Bismarck, ND.Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, January 23, 2017 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Strasburg, officiated by Fr. Jason Signalness and Fr. Leonard Eckroth.Visitation will be held from 5-9 pm on Sunday with a prayer service at 7:00 pm at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Strasburg. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the funeral mass on Monday.Burial will take place following mass, at the church cemetery.Eddie was born on October 28, 1927 to Wendelin and Natalie (Miller) Kramer in Linton, ND. He grew up on the family farm near Strasburg and attended country school. He worked on the farm for a few years before entering the US Navy. Eddie served on the USS Missouri during WWII. After an honorable discharge in 1946, he returned to Strasburg. On October 25, 1949 he married Helen Burgad at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Together they raised their family and farmed southwest of Strasburg until moving into town in 1986. Eddie kept busy with his tree removal and cleaning business. He served 2 terms as county commissioner, served on the social service board, and was a member of the Lions Club. He also was an active member of the Strasburg VFW.Eddie was a 'people person' who loved to laugh, tell jokes, and was a great storyteller. He enjoyed having coffee and visiting with friends, and was known for his frequent visits to the Strasburg Care Center residents. He had an amazing talent of remembering dates and numbers, including birthdays and anniversaries. But more than anything else, he loved his family and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren meant the world to him. Keeping busy, working hard and caring for his family were the most important to him.Eddie is survived by 3 daughters, Sandy (Augie) Ternes of Bismarck, Kathy (Gary L.) Nagel of Strasburg, and Natalie (Gary T.) Nagel of Bismarck; his son Eddie Jr. (Lori) of Strasburg; 12 grandchildren, Stacy (Jason) Fowler, Tanya Nagel, Nicole (Eric) Lund, Thomas (Chelsea) Ternes, Toby (Traci) Nagel, Krista (Jordan) Schultz, Nathan (Katie) Nagel, Eddie Kramer III, Todd Nagel, Bobbi (Savanna Fetzer) Kramer, Nicolas Kramer and Mac Kramer; 5 great-grandchildren, Sam Schultz, Easton Lund, Tenley and Nolan Ternes, and Tucker Nagel; one brother, Gene Kramer of Grand Forks, ND; sisters-in-law, Alice Kramer of Portland, OR, Angie Hager of Strasburg and Marge Tschosik of Bismarck.He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Helen; his parents; infant daughter, Helen; and 14 siblings.
