Edith Dienert, 76, of Rapid City, SD, formerly of Pollock, SD died Saturday, September 27, 2014, at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Pollock Lutheran Church, Pollock, SD. Visitation will be from 5 9 p.m. Friday, at the church in Pollock, where there will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue for one hour before service time on Saturday. Edith Ann Dienert was born December 26, 1937 in Eagle Butte, SD, the daughter of Edward and Alice (Rypkema) Van Beek. The family moved to Westfield, ND in 1943, and a few years later moved to a farm west of Pollock. Edith attended school in Westfield and Pollock, graduating from Pollock High School in 1955. Edith married Arthur Dienert on October 28, 1955 in Pollock. They lived on a ranch south of Pollock until 1991 when they moved into Pollock. Edith enjoyed owning and operating Lakeview Motel and Campground with Arthur, from 1983 until 2011. They also owned Edie's Square Dance Apparel and Edith sold Avon for several years. Edith was a member of Pollock Lutheran Church and was active in various church groups. She made many friends over the years through her involvement in Couple's Club, Square Dancing, Card Club and Extension Club. She was a great cook and fantastic seamstress, making clothes and Halloween costumes for her children. She was a talented painter & through the years painted many nice oil paintings. She also made several Creative Memories photo albums which she loved to share with family and friends. She enjoyed camping, especially their yearly family camping trips to the Black Hills. Edith is survived by 2 daughters, Natalie (Steve) Frost of Rapid City and Marti (Alan) Keller of Strasburg, ND; 1 son, Wade (Pam) Dienert of Pollock; 6 grandchildren, Camille Andrews, David Andrews, Sam Frost, Max Frost, Kirstie Dienert and Jackson Dienert; 1 great-grandchild, Troy Olson; 3 brothers, Bernard Van Beek, Everett, WA, Richard (Lu) Van Beek, Aberdeen, SD, and John (Betty) Van Beek, Pollock, SD; sister-in-law, Peggy Van Beek, Pollock, SD; brother-in-law, Ronald Dienert, Mobridge, SD; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 2011, sister, Laura (Heimbuck) Arndt, brothers, Gordon, Harvey and Everett Van Beek, brothers-in-law, Jim Heimbuck and Walt Arndt, and sisters-in-law, Mavis, Jean and Betty Van Beek and Linda Dienert.
