On July 25, 2024, our precious mother, Edna R. Serr, 92, of Linton, ND went to meet her Lord and Savior.  She was surrounded by her family and peacefully entered her new journey into heaven. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Monday August 5, 2024 at Peace Lutheran Church, Linton, ND with Pastor Sean Barnhart officiating.  Burial will be in the Linton Cemetery.  Visitation will be held 1 hour before the services at the church on Monday.

Edna Rose Serr was born on September 19, 1931 to Jake and Johanna (Schmidt) Schiermeister at their Emmons County farmhouse west of Linton.  She was baptized November 1,1931 in the old country church, Evangelical Lutheran Immanuel Church near Hampton, 23 miles NW of Linton.  Edna attended rural school in Gayton and Hampton districts and she graduated from Linton High School in 1948.  Edna confirmed her faith in Jesus Christ at Peace Lutheran Church on July1st, 1945.

Edna married the love of her life, Henry Serr Jr. of Temvik, ND.  With this union, they had 3 children: Terence (Shirlene) Serr of Hazelton, Candis (Kinley) Wagner of Hazelton and Shelley Serr of Linton; four grandchildren: Rachel Ann (Kevin) Dykema of Bismarck, Craig Terence (Katie) Serr of Hazelton, Alison Rose (Matt) Randle of Mapleton, and Kristi Meri Slater of Lincoln; 11 great grandchildren: Connor, Hailey and Brianna Dykema, Henry, Hazel and Eva Serr, Paxton and Emsley Randle; Kadence, Alyssa and Triston Slater.

Edna was very involved with her church.  She taught Sunday school, Confirmation and adult Bible study.  Her favorite discussion was the book of Revelation.  She served on the church council on the education committee, Sunday school superintendent, chairperson for the Naomi Circle, and served on the Executive Board of PLCW.

Edna had a love for music, she taught herself how to play the piano and organ.  She was involved in the German and English Choirs most of her life.  She wrote a song for her children's weddings. Edna also had a lot of hobbies, she was an excellent seamstress, gardener, did a lot of canning, and raised chickens to feed her family.

Edna loved being surrounded by her family and friends.  She was an excellent cook and baker.  Mom loved feeding us all!!

She had a love for family history.  She spent years researching the Schiermeister history and put it all into a book.  She planned the 1st Schiermeister family reunion and hosted over 400 relatives.  She was exhausted.

We will all greatly miss our loving, caring and beautiful mother.  She is now with Jesus and dad.

Edna is survived by all her children; her grandchildren and great grandchildren; her sisters and brothers-in-law: Bertha (Robert) Bradford, Viola (John) Kizis, Hilda (Jim) Houseman, LiAnn Hathaway and Dorinda (Albert) Weisbeck; sisters-in-law: Diane Schiermeister and Carol Serr; brother-in-law, Donald Smith and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jake and Johanna Schiermeister; her husband, Henry Serr Jr.; her sisters and brothers-in-law: Martha (Emanuel) Walther, Marie (Alfred) Haas, Eleanor Schiermeister and Margie Smith; brothers and sisters-in-law: Ray (Lena) Schiermeister, Ervin (Joan) Schiermeister, Robert (Whitey) Schiermeister, Kenny Schiermeister, and an infant brother; brothers-in-law: Glen Hathaway and Joe Massulo.
