Edward was born December 24, 1927 in Linton, ND, the son of Soren and Rachel (Kvamme) Strand. He attended school in Linton where he graduated from the Linton High School in 1945. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp. from 1946 to 1947. Ed then attended Hansons Trade School in Fargo, ND. He received a degree in auto mechanics, welding, diesel mechanics and lathe in 1950. Ed farmed with his father and also worked for KEIM Electric in Bismarck. Ed married Shirley Kosel in Ellendale, ND on March 15, 1959. Following their marriage, they lived and farmed NE of Temvik. Ed also did carpentry work and enjoyed making furniture. They retired and moved into Linton in 2002. He served on St. Pauls Evangelical Lutheran Church Council. Ed died March 11, 2010 at the Strasburg Care Center. He is survived by his wife, Shirley of Linton, ND; two sons: David Strand of Fargo, ND and Randall Randy Strand of Fargo, ND; one sister and brother-in-law: Bernice and Aaron Gullickson of Cannon Ball, ND and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two great nieces: Robin and Amanda Connolly.
