Edwin W. Grenz was born on June 6, 1924 in Temvik, ND, the son of Jacob K. and Katie (Kreig) Grenz. He attended farm school on Highway 83, south of the Kreig farm. He served in the US Army from 1944 to 1946 in the Philippines. Edwin married Bernita Baumiller on December 23, 1947 in Bismarck, ND. They lived in Mitchell, SD, where Edwin worked at a horse packing plant. They returned to Napoleon and Edwin worked for Zantels, putting up REC poles and wire. Edwin and Bernita purchased their own farm in 1955. They farmed six miles east of Linton. They also owned Napoleon Livestock for a short period of time. Edwin was also a brand inspector for the ND Stockmens Association for several years prior to his retirement. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Edwin was a member of the Linton American Legion. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law: Rory and Susan Grenz of Springfield, VA; two daughters and sons-in-law: Sandra and John DeBoer of Linton, ND and Twyla and Kent Streibel of Grand Forks, ND; 4 grandchildren: Darcy (Carl) Rindelaub, Stacy (Jeremy) Bingham, and Rachel and Lauren Grenz; 4 great grandchildren: Saffron and Brody Rindelaub, Jordan and Ethan Bingham; one brother: Wilbert Grenz of McCoy, TX; one sister: Delores Wittiko of Mandan, ND as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife on November 3, 2009, one brother, Elmer Grenz, and two sisters, Alma Stephens and Della Keller.
