Eldon Merle Droog, 79, of Hull, ND, left his earthly life on Tuesday, November 10, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Hull Christian Reformed Church, Hull, ND with Reverend Jack Vanden Heuvel officiating. Burial will be in Hull Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Hull Christian Reformed Church where a prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m.Eldon was born on the family farm south of Hull, ND, on March 14, 1936, the third of seven children born to Cornie and Winnie (Nieuwsma) Droog. He attended Nieuwsma Country School one mile west of the farm. At age 14, Eldon graduated from 8th grade, bought a team of horses and began farming with his dad. Eldon married Darlene Vandenburg on June 12, 1970 in Lark, ND. The couple made their home on the farm where they raised their two boys.Eldon was an active member of Hull Christian Reformed Church. He was an elder, taught catechism and served as the Sunday School superintendent. For many years, Eldon was the Bakker School bus driver. He had also served on the Bakker School Board. Eldon embraced the life of a farmer and enjoyed working hard. He liked spending time working on various projects in his meticulously-organized shop. Eldon loved God and family and he demonstrated his devotion to both every day of his life. Eldon is survived by his wife, Darlene; two sons and daughters-in-law, Devin and Kim Droog of Grafton, ND and Sheldon and Kim Droog, Hull; six grandchildren, Garek, Landon, Alaina, Kyler, Holden and Delson; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Delmer and Matilda Droog, Herried, SD, Preston and Diane Droog, Mobridge, SD and Ronald and Debra Droog, Aberdeen, SD; two sisters, Corrine and Billy Vander Vorst, Groton, SD, and Alice and Ivan Groothuis, Sioux Center, IA; many nieces and nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.He was preceded in death by his parents and step-mother, Angie (Nieuwsma) Droog, and a sister, Mary Lou Lamb.
