Obituary

Elizabeth Louise Wikenheiser, 63, of Strasburg passed away Aug 1, 2023 surrounded by loved ones.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30am, Saturday, August 5, 2023 at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Strasburg, ND with Fr. Bruce Krebs officiating.  Burial will in St. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery.  There will be a prayer service/rosary on Saturday at 10:00am at the church.

Elizabeth was born March 12, 1960 to Viola (Mattern) and Alois Wikenheiser.  She was raised and educated in Strasburg, ND.  She graduated from Emmons Central High School in 1978.  She married Leo Kiefer in 1987 and lived on their farm for many years.  Later she moved to Strasburg and they remained special friends.  She was also a member of the St. Mary's Society.

During her life she struggled with many health difficulties. Her health limited some of her goals, but despite this she always had big dreams and pushed herself to accomplish what she could.  She desired to be a nurse and received some medical training.  She used her skills to care for the many people God put in her life.  Her Uncle Ray Wikenheiser, Annie Keller, Victoria Voller, nieces and nephews and many others were comforted by Elizabeth's loving kindness.  She especially cared for her dad Alois, and her step dad, Syl Schumacher.  The dedication and love she showed towards her mother Viola Schumacher were one of the many gifts she gave to her siblings.

Elizabeth had a knack and love for gardening.  Her garden was full of wonderful vegetables, potted plants and beautiful landscaping. She enjoyed traveling and had a great love of knowledge.  She was interested in history and was intensely proud of being a North Dakota native.  She loved animals of all kinds.

Elizabeth is survived by 7 siblings: David Wikenheiser (Marsha) of Arlington, TN; Kenneth Wikenheiser (Elaine) of Linton, ND; Mary Zimmerman (Mike) of Minot, ND; Mark Wikenheiser (Kim) of Fairmont, MN; Don Wikenheiser (Deloris) of Strasburg, ND; Sue Rebel (Rick) of Taylor, ND; Judy Stone (Ken) of Pittsville, WI, and extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three young siblings, Kathleen, Barbara, and John.
