Esther Rauma Kaikkonen Penttinen, 94, Linton, ND, died Monday November 2, 2015 at the Strasburg Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 7, 2015 at Peace Lutheran Church, Linton, ND. Burial will be in the Linton cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, November 6, 2015 at Myers Funeral Home, Linton. Visitation will continue for one hour before service time at the church on Saturday.Esther was born on February 28, 1921, in Wadena County, MN, the daughter of William and Amanda (Matta) Rauma. As a young girl, Esther grew up and attended school near Sebeka, MN. Later she worked in South St. Paul and then in Cloquet. She moved back to Sebeka area and then to Virginia, MN. In 1974 she married Eino Penttinen and they lived in Duluth, MN until Eino retired. They moved to Park Rapids for four years and then moved back to Menahga until Eino passed away in May of 2000. Esther worked in Virginia in a restaurant as a cook's helper in the kitchen and later in a hotel as a housekeeper which she loved. She also enjoyed baking for the children she loved. In 2002 Esther moved to North Dakota to be close to family.Esther is survived by one son, Rodney L. Kaikkonen, Linton; two grandchildren, Renee (Deron) Manseau and Richard Kaikkonen; two great grandchildren, Cody Albro and Casey Kaikkonen; two sisters, Hazel Paakkonen and Alvina Pellerin, both of Minneapolis; as well as nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers, three sisters and a daughter-in-law, Julie Kaikkonen.
