Eva was born November 12, 1914 in Hague, ND, the daughter of Michael and Katherine (Zahn) Johs. She was raised and educated in the Odessa area. Eva married Frank X. Kiefer at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hague on February 28, 1933. Following their marriage, they lived and farmed on the Kiefer farm northeast of Hague. They retired and moved to Strasburg in 1972. Frank died in February of 1986. Eva was a cook at the Odessa grade school and at the Strasburg Care Center. She also volunteered at the Strasburg Care Center. Eva was a member of a local homemaker's club, St. Mary's Society and Strasburg Senior Citizens. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, playing cards and visiting with family and friends. Eva is survived by two sons and three daughters-in-law: Robert and Violet Kiefer of Hague, ND, James and Virlene Kiefer of Annandale, MN and Jean Kiefer of Greenfield, WI; three daughters and two sons-in-law: Bertha and John Holzer of Strasburg, ND, Patricia and Charles Deiro of Milwaukee, WI and Shirley Kiefer of Waterford, WI; 16 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter; three brothers and two sisters-in-law: Ben and Christine Johs of Linton, ND, Mike and Irene Johs of Aberdeen, SD and John Johs of Aberdeen, SD; three sisters and one brother-in-law: Anna and Francis Nolz of Linton, ND, Lena Wagner of Bismarck, ND, and Barbara Kessler of Eugene, OR as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons, Jerry and Victor, four brothers, Frank, Adam, Vincent and Connie, and three sisters, Cecilia, Katie, and Mary.
