Everett Jones (93) of Herreid, SD passed away on July 18, 2024, at the Avera Eureka Care Center in Eureka, SD.  A private burial will be held at the Luther-Jones Cemetery of rural Herreid. Visitation will be held at the Sannes Feist Funeral Home in Linton, ND, on Monday evening July 22, from 5-7 pm.

Everett Charles Jones was born Jan. 24, 1931, in Campbell County, SD, to David R. and Martha (Meisner) Jones.  After graduating from the 8th grade, he worked on his parents' farm and worked for local ranches, mostly on the Horseshoe Ranch.

In 1952, he was drafted into the U.S. Marine Corps. He survived a year of combat in Korea and was awarded a Purple Heart.  He was discharged as a corporal in 1954.

In 1957 he married Georgene Anderson of Grove City, MN.  They made their home on his parents' farm near the Missouri River and then later moved to a farm northwest of Herreid.

Survivors include his wife, Georgene; a daughter, Shelly Jones of Henry, SD; sons:  Marlo (Susan) of Kent, WA, Jody (Linda) of Roy, MT, and Jehu of Windom, MN; eight grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Dave and Martha:  son,  Aron, and sister,  Evelyn Renskers.
