Obituary

Ferdinand Buechler, 86, formerly of Linton, ND, died May 21, 2011 at the Strasburg Care Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Linton with Fr. Paul Eberle officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00am to 9:00pm Monday, May 23 at the Myers Funeral Home, Linton with a prayer service at 7:30pm. Visitation will continue for 1 hour before the services at the church on Tuesday. Ferdinand was born on October 15, 1924 on a farm near Strasburg, the son of Peter and Elizabeth (Holzer) Buechler. He was raised and educated in the Odessa School District of rural Hague. Ferdinand married Cecilia Fischer at St. Aloysius Catholic Church on November 4, 1946. Following their marriage, they lived on the family farm for two years. They moved to Napoleon and farmed for two years. They moved to a farm east of Temvik for six years before moving back to the family farm in 1957. They farmed and raised their family on the family farm until 1985 when they moved to Linton. Ferdinand also drove school bus for the Odessa School District. Ferdinand enjoyed playing cards, telling jokes, visiting with family and friends and spending time with his grandchildren. He was very devoted to his wife Cecilia during their 60 years of marriage. Ferdinand was a member of NFO, Knights of Columbus and St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Grateful to have shared his life are five daughters and sons-in-law: Marlene Loehlein of Blaine, MN, Betty and Dennis Haaland of Maple Grove, MN, Delores Arends (Rick) of Blaine, MN, Patti and Al Wangler of Bismarck, ND and Elaine and Peter Brendel of Bismarck, ND; two sons and daughters-in-law: Terry and Evy Buechler of Hague, ND and Alvin and Darlene Buechler of Fargo, ND; twenty grandchildren: Bruce (Diane) Feist, Tara (Mike) Leupke, Nichloas (Alicia) Loehlein, Cheri Haaland, Aaron Haaland (deceased), Tammy (Derek) Larson, Tanya (Darren) Johnson, Troy (Sarah) Wangler, Justin Wangler (Fiance' Jami Wahl), Andrea (Jesse) Wald, Rebecca Wangler (Fiancee' Matt LaBella), Bryan (Lacey) Brendel, Bradley (Dorie) Brendel, Jason (Cherrell) Brendel, Jodi Brendel, Kayla (Brad) Dykema, Kimmy Buechler, Tyler (Alicia) Buechler, Jackie (Gabe) Ridgeway, and Chad Buechler; seventeen great grandchildren: Kate, Leo, and Ivey Feist, Drew and Paige Leupke, Jackson Karger, Braelyn and Kyler Larson, Brianna and Dylan Johnson, Morgan Rash, Kaleb Ridgeway, Elizabeth Wangler, Brooklyn, McKenna and Claire Brendel, and Gavin Brendel; two brothers and sisters-in-law: John and Alice Buechler of Minot, ND and Al and Janice Buechler of Monroe, IA; one sister and brother-in-law: Ann and Tom Santos of Cocoa, Fl; two sisters-in-law: Agnes Buechler of Bismarck, ND and Irene Buechler of Strasburg, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Cecilia in 2007, a daughter at birth, a son, Clarence; a grandson, Aaron Haaland; four brothers: Leo and Carl in infancy, Martin and Carl; three sisters: Clara Zahn, Marianna Zacher and Elizabeth Scherr and a son-in-law, Edward Loehlein.
