Obituary

Florence Catherine (Glasser) Rohrick, 82, Linton ND passed Monday morning, October 30, 2023 at the Linton Regional Medical Center after a protracted and difficult health battle. Cremation has taken place. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, July 19, 2024 at 10:30 AM at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Linton. Burial will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery.

Florence was born December 20, 1940 in her parent's farmhouse located southwest of Linton. Her mother, Katherine (Deisz), delivered her alone as there was no doctor present and the father, Ralph Glasser, happened to be in town that day. The following day, Ralph brought a midwife to the house to make certain mother and child were okay.

Later the family moved to Bismarck where Florence began the first grade without knowing any English. (As an adult she often noted that she could barely speak any German.) Soon after, the family moved to a house located across main street from St. Anthony Catholic Church in Linton. (The house is still standing.) Florence attended St. Anthony school through the 8th grade before transferring to Linton Public High School where she graduated in 1958.

While a girl she began working on the Joe & Ann Bichler farm before eventually working for Mike Kramer at K&H Electric. After graduating from high school she began working in the Auditor's office at the Emmons County Courthouse. On May 23, 1960 she married Francis "Jack" Rohrick and gave birth to four children in four years—all the while continuing to work her full-time job.

After leaving the Courthouse, Florence worked as a teacher's aide at Linton Public School. As Jack's businesses took off in the early 1970s she quit working for other people to devote more time to managing his refrigeration, crop spraying, and farming businesses. Meanwhile, she also gave birth to two more children.

Florence eventually went back to work outside the home doing flower arrangements at the Weigel-Myers Funeral Home in the early 1980s. She left that job for Coast-to-Coast Hardware, and later became the manager of the Linton office of Eyecare Professionals where she remained until the early 1990s. After Jack passed in 2013, she retired to focus on her grandchildren, cats, flowers, cooking, baking, and other artistic endeavors.

Florence had many talents and skills. She was an outstanding chef and baker who oftentimes created her own delicious recipes. She especially enjoyed cooking big meals when her granddaughters were back and taking pleasure when they would call out "Thanks for cooking, Grandma!".

An accomplished seamstress; she sewed many of her children's clothes while they were young. She created jackets, blouses, slacks and other outfits for herself throughout her lifetime. She was also adept at recovering fabric furniture and wood refinishing. Her artistic talents included sketch artistry, drawing, watercolor painting, guitar, keyboard, and singing. Her annual Christmas village was also a hit with many children and adults. She was a fisherwoman who accompanied her husband on many a fishing adventure, and out fished him on more than one occasion.

Florence is survived by her loving children: Cindy of Linton, Denise of Golden Valley, MN, Daryl of Linton, Cheryl of Tucson, AZ, Jason of Eden Prairie, MN; and her very special friend Kathy Kramer (Mylo) of Linton—whom she considered a daughter. Granddaughters: Grace Rohrick and Lily Rohrick of Minnesota. Three sisters: Priscilla Kessler of Mandan, Ann Bichler (Joe) of Fargo, and Elizabeth Feist (Robert) of Bismarck. One brother: Joe Glasser (Lenora) of Linton. One cat: Annie.

Florence is preceded in death by infant daughter Jamie Lynn; her parents; her husband; her sisters: Diane Robinson & Maggie Kramer; her brothers: Frank Glasser, Edward Sehn, Mike Glasser, and Peter Glasser.

She will be missed by many.
