Francis was born on July 22, 1915 in Emmons County, ND, the son of Kris and Ethel (McConville) Jakobsen. He attended country school. He farmed with his mother prior to his marriage. Francis married Ann Weber on September 2, 1936 in Bismarck, ND. They farmed northwest of Pollock until 1977 when they moved into Mobridge, SD. Ann died on July 8, 1993. Francis continued to live in Mobridge. He enjoyed raising, selling and trading horses. He also enjoyed gardening and spending time with his friends and family. Francis was a member of the Beaver Valley Horse Club. He is survived by two sons and three daughters-in-law: Duwaine and Arlie Jakobsen of Pollock, SD, Kenny and Vicki Jakobsen of Pollock, SD and Gladys Jakobsen of Bismarck, ND; eight grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren and eleven great-great grandchildren; and special friend Norna Schott of Mobridge, SD. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 1993, one son, ONeil Jakobsen one grandson, Michael and three sisters: Helen, Annie and Fern.
