Obituary

Gerald Jerry J. Haid, 64, of Linton, ND died January 26, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am Saturday, January 30, 2010 at St. Anthonys Catholic Church, Linton with Reverend Gary Benz officiating. Military Rites will be provided by the Linton American Legion. Burial will be at 11:00am on Monday, February 1, 2010 at the ND Veterans Cemetery with the Deacon Dennis Rohr officiating. Military Rites will be provided by the Mandan VFW. Visitation will be held on Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm at the Myers Funeral Home, Linton and from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at the church with prayers at 7:00pm. Gerald was born February 18, 1945 in Temvik, ND, the son of Jacob Jr. and Cleo Delyghte (Grenz) Haid. He attended school in Linton, ND and graduated from the Linton High School. Gerald worked with his dad doing custom combining. He served in the U.S. Navy from 19641968 where he served in Vietnam. Jerry returned from the service and continued to help his dad on the farm. Jerry married Rosemary Rose Jangula on November 27, 1971 at St. Anthonys Catholic Church. Following their marriage, they lived in Linton where Jerry was a part time police officer. He later became the chief of police from 1980 to 1997 where he served the city of Linton for 17 years. Jerry then worked as a part time police officer in Strasburg and also worked for FEMA. He was currently a Correctional Officer at the ND State Penitentiary where he started on May 4, 1998. He was a member of the Linton American Legion. He enjoyed movies and spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Rosemary Rose Haid of Linton, ND; one son, Jeremy Haid of Linton, ND; two daughters and sons-in-law: Rachel and Juan Postigo of Lincoln, CA and Brandi and Pat Wanner of Bismarck, ND; three grandsons: Evan and Samuel Postigo and Chase Wanner; his mother, Delyghte Haid of Linton, ND; one brother, Jim Haid of Linton, ND and one sister and brother-in-law: Sally and Steve Huizenga of Westfield, ND and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father in 2007
