Obituary

Gerald "Gerry" Tveito, 75 of Linton, ND, died peacefully at his home on June 17, 2016, surrounded by his loving family.Memorial Services will be 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at Peace Lutheran Church, Linton with Pastor Sean Barnhart officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 1-9 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Myers Funeral Home.Inurnment will be held at the Linton Cemetery.Gerry was born August 22, 1940 in New Rockford, ND the son of Peter and Gladys (Rud) Tveito. He was raised in the rural Sheyenne area. He attended school in Sheyenne and after graduation he attended Valley City State College where he graduated with a degree in Social Studies and Physical Education. At VCSC he also played football and baseball for the Vikings. While at VCSC he met the love of his life, Donna Lou Ohman, from Cooperstown, ND. Gerry and Donna were united in marriage on August 26, 1962. Gerry became a teacher and coach at Turtle Lake, Anamoose, and Harvey schools. He also refereed basketball and football games. Since he was a farm boy, he decided to enter the farm implement business at Harvey, Carrington, Linton, and Jamestown, until retirement in 2005. Following retirement he worked at The Rivery on the banks of the Missouri River.Gerry enjoyed doing things with his grandchildren, snowmobiling, darts, reading, playing cards, traveling and bowling. Gerry especially loved camping, fishing, and spending time by the Missouri River. Many hours were spent teaching his sons and their friends how to waterski. Gerry also cherished the many winters spent in Arizona.He was a former member of the Beaver Valley Sno-Goers, Voices of Oahe, and Peace Lutheran Church.Blessed to have shared his life, his wife of 53 years, Donna; 3 sons and 4 grandchildren: Dan (Melissa) of Linton; Dave (Tracie), of West Fargo, ND, Brandon, of Boston, MA, Katelyn, and Carson, of West Fargo; and Darren (Julie), Jackson of Linton; 3 sisters, Bev (Roger) Rupprecht of Thief River Falls, MN, Carol (Marlan) Wahl of Rogers, AR, and Jeanette (Terry) Metcalf of Stevensville, ONT; 3 brothers-in-law, Robert, Larry both of Bismarck, ND and Ken Ohman of Cooperstown; as well as many nieces and nephews.Gerry was preceded in death by his parents, and sister-in-law, Arlene (Ohman) Rupp.
