Harry Serr, 84. Linton, ND died June 3, 2026 at his residence under the care of hospice and surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, June 8, 2026 at the United Methodist Church, Linton with Pastor Marlin Sapp officiating. Interment will be held in the Linton Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 7, 2026 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm at the United Methodist Church.
Harry A. Serr was born on January 13, 1942, to Adolph and Lily Serr in Bismarck, ND. Harry grew up in Linton, ND and graduated from Linton High School. His favorite high school memories to share were those of his track accomplishments. After high school, he worked at the Standard Gas Station off and on. In 1963, he joined the National Guard for a six-year term. While attending basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, he learned that Elvis Presley was housed two barracks away from him. In 1965, he started driving school bus and continued doing so for 14 years. In 1966, just after the blizzard, he met the love of his life, Fran, on a blind date arranged by friends. On October 21, 1967, they were married in Herreid, SD. They made their home in Linton, ND, where they raised their three children: Tamara, Ray, and Dawn. Harry made his living farming and ranching, especially enjoying his time spent in the hayfield and with his animals. He retired in 2021.
Harry was a member of American Legion Post 54, the Emmons County Wildlife Club, and the Beaver Valley Snow Goers Club. He enjoyed bowling, shooting pool, playing cards, throwing darts and horseshoes. His favorite beverages were a good cold Old Milwaukee or a Diet Coke.
Harry is survived by his children; Tamara (Dean) Volk, Ray (Nicki) Serr and Dawn (Toby) Dewitz; his grandchildren, Erin (Brady) Olson, Linzee Volk (Cole Jore), Samantha Volk, Zach (Whitney) Serr, Jess (Clay) Jacob, Lexi Dewitz, Seth Dewitz and Jake Dewitz; his great-grandchildren, Brogan Olson, Briggs Olson, Lilian Serr, Carter Serr, Emma Serr, and Adalynn Jacob; his sisters, Dorinda Diede and Tina Weichel and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances; his parents, Adolph and Lily Serr; his father and mother-in-law, Frank and Cecilia Grad and his brother-in-law, Rodney Diede.
