Helen Maxine Johnson Shaw born July 24, 1945 to Chett and Helen Johnson in Wellington, Kansas. She was mom to a mix of his, hers and ours of 5 children: Bill Ruth Jr, Shirley Shaw, Richard Shaw Jr, Warren Shaw, and Landa Shaw VanderWal. Grandmother to 8: Shelby Redmond, Isaac Ruth, Jesse Redmond, Amber Shaw, Bridgett Ruth, Avery Shaw, Aaron VanderWal, and Shawn VanderWal. Great- Grandmother to Tegan Redmond, Harper Ellingson Redmond, William Redmond, and Harrison Redmond. She was a Jane of all trades, waitress, cook, housekeeper, factory worker, bus driver, and truck driver. A caring and loving mother, wife, sister, aunt, and grandmother. She was a strong and independent woman, full of wisdom. She loved sharing with her children and grandchildren. She'd always get a giggle out of one or the other of her children or grandchildren calling her to ask about her recipes and how she made something. She was one of those people in your life that if you could make her giggle or laugh, it gave you that warm fuzzy feeling and you'd want to do it again. She had that mother's love, when you make the biggest mistake of your life, and you know you've hit rock bottom, everyone in your life has left you, and you look up and she's right there, she's got your back and supporting you, you know that's a mother's love. We all had that mother and grandmother.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband of 48 years Richard Shaw Sr. Her brother Eddie Johnson, her sister Joyce Johnson Frost, and her grandson Isaac Ruth.
Survived by her brothers: Raymond Johnson, Lonnie Johnson and Robert Johnson; her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.
