Helena was born June 16, 1919, on her parents' farm in Emmons County, to Ignatz and Melonia (Huber) Bosch. She was raised in Emmons County and educated in a rural grade school. She married Stanley M. Wald on October 15, 1940, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Linton, ND. They made their home on a farm south of Napoleon until 1972 when they retired and moved to Linton. Stanley died February 15, 1998. Helena moved to Marillac Manor, Bismarck, ND in 2010, and in August 2016 she moved into St. Vincent's Nursing Home until her passing.
Helena was a soft-spoken lady, remaining strong in her faith to get her through each day. She rarely complained, except if she was made late for Mass or for her meal. Loved by all who met her, she became a mother figure to many who had lost their own mother, and her stories will remain in many hearts. Helena was a life time member of the Christian Mothers. She worked on the farm next to her husband and enjoyed cooking and playing pinochle with family and friends.
They enjoyed traveling after moving off the farm, Rome being her favorite to visit.
Grateful to have shared her life are daughter, Sister Siena Wald, daughters-in-law, Margaret, LuElla, Becky, and son-in-law, James Klein; sisters, Mary Weigel, Christine Dorscher, sister-in-law, Rose Bosch; 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild with two on the way.
