Herbert Schiermeister, 87, of Hazelton, ND, died March 20, 2012 in a Bismarck Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Friday, March 23, 2012 at the Linton United Methodist Church, Linton with the Reverend Cori Waisanen officiating. Burial will be in the Linton Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 22, 2012 from 10:00am to 5:00pm at the funeral home and from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at the church with a prayer service at 8:00pm. Herbert was born August 5, 1924 on a farm west of Hazelton, the son of Fredrick K. and Carolina (Serr) Schiermeister. He was raised and educated on a farm twelve miles west of Hazelton. He farmed with his father until his father moved into town. Herb continued to live on the farm. Herb married Macy Sandwick in 1970. They lived in Hazelton. Herb entered St. Vincent's Care Center in 2009. Macy died in November of 2011. He is survived by one sister and brother-in-law: Elsie and Paul Ferderer, Linton, ND; five step-children; several nieces and nephews and his long time friend and hired hand, LeRoy Rooker. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife; three brothers: Edwin, Rueben and Melvin; and a niece, Carol Davis.
