Irene Baumgartner, 94, of Strasburg, ND, died April 18, 2023 in the Strasburg Care Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am, Monday, April 24 2023 at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church with Fr. Shannon Lucht officiating. Burial will be in the St. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5pm to 7pm Sunday, April 23, 2023 at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Strasburg. There will be rosary/vigil service at 7pm.

Irene was born on May 13, 1928 on a farm near Strasburg, the daughter of Peter & Anna (Heidrich) Braun. She attended country school in the Strasburg area.

Irene married Andrew Baumgartner on September 7, 1948 at Strasburg. They farmed 16 miles west of Strasburg until 1957 when they moved to a farm 3 miles north of Strasburg. They semi-retired in 1978 and moved into Strasburg, where she worked at the Strasburg Care Center.

She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, polka fest, adult coloring books, and most of all attending her grandchildren's activities. Irene was a member of St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and St. Mary's Society and the VFW Auxiliary.

Irene is survived by her four sons: Tony & Janice Baumgartner of Linton, ND, Melvin & Linda Baumgartner of Forman, ND, Tom & Donna Baumgartner of Bismarck, ND and Peter & Janel Baumgartner of Hazelton, ND; twelve grandchildren; twenty eight great grandchildren; sisters: Angie Uhlmeyer of Colorado, Pat & Richard Fieck of Texas, Verena & Al Schauer of North Dakota; brothers-in-law: Roger Kocher of North Dakota and Clarence Kelsch of Oregon; sister-in-law, Teresa Braun of Georgia.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Andrew in 2015; son, Paul Douglas; two brothers: Ed Braun & Gerry Braun; three sisters: Alice Schiele, Phyllis Kocher and Doris Kelsch.
