Obituary

Irene Viola Trautman Biesheuvel of Strasburg, ND formerly of Pollock, SD, breathed her last breath and stepped into Heaven on August 24, 2022 at the age of 99. She will be missed by all her family and friends and greeted by those who went before. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday August 31 at 10:30 AM at Pollock Memorial Presbyterian Church, Pollock, SD. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Sannes Feist Family Funeral Home, Linton, ND. Burial will be held at the Westfield Cemetery. Irene was born the second child of thirteen children to Elizabeth (Orth) and Emil Trautman on May 18, 1923. She met her beloved husband, Dick, while working for a family of her husband's late wife.  She was sent for by Dick and they were married in the Westfield Hope Reformed Church parsonage on November 19, 1943.  She instantly became the mother of Dick's three children, Delores, Bonnie and Roger.  She always called Dick's kids her kids and loved them as her very own.  Her union with Dick brought two daughters and a son to the world, Susan, Daniel and Mary.

Irene was always a caregiver. She was hired as a caregiver for many families. She loved caring for her siblings, her family, her church, the senior center and all her friends. She loved to quilt, having made dozens of quilts for family and friends. One of her state quilts, with embroidered blocks and hand stitching, and was featured in the Pollock Paper.  Any time she saw a hole in anybody's jeans she would say, "I can fix them for you." She loved her garden and when asked what she missed on the farm, it was "her cows".

Dick and Irene retired from farming they purchased a home in Pollock, South Dakota. While Dick was fishing, Irene volunteered at the Senior Center and loved Bible study and coffee gatherings with friends. In   1995 she moved to an adult living apartment in Linton, North Dakota and finally to the Strasburg, North Dakota Care Center. The staff of SCC loved Mom and her stories about life and her children.  She was the Valentines Day Queen one year.  She also accumulated many winnings at bingo.

Irene is survived by her children, Delores Hardy, Bismarck, Bonnie (Alfred) Trautman Camas, WA, Susan Gimbel, Hazelton, Daniel Biesheuvel, Bismarck and Mary (Mike Taylor) Nieuwsma, Strasburg; daughter-in-law, JoAnn Biesheuvel, Gillette, WY; eighteen grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and even great-great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Lloyd, Alfred and Ted Trautman.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Elizabeth, in-laws, Ingus and Nell Biesheuvel, four sisters, five brothers, her husband, Dick and oldest son, Roger and great grandsons, Kody Cross and Eli Claypool, sons-in-law, Leonard Hardy and Charles Gimbel and daughter-in-law, Wanda Biesheuvel.

Thank you so very much to the staff of the Strasburg Care Center for their love and care of Mom. You all are angels!
