Obituary

Irene Getz, 81, of Strasburg, ND, died April 2, 2010 at the Linton Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am Monday, April 5, 2010 at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Strasburg, ND, with the Rev. Paul Eberle and Rev. Albert Leary officiating. Burial will be in the Holt Trinity Catholic Cemetery, Strasburg. Visitation will be on Sunday from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at St. Peter & Paul Catholic church with a prayer service at 7:00pm. Irene was born in Linton, ND on January 31, 1929 to Mathias and Eva (Vetter) Feist. She attended country school. Irene married Eugene Getz on June 17, 1953 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Rural Strasburg, ND. They farmed west of Strasburg until retiring in 2002. They continued to live on the farm. Irene entered the Strasburg Care Center in June of 2009. She was a member of St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, St. Marys Society, Beaver Valley Horse Club which she served as secretary for 4 years. Irene enjoyed gardening, crocheting, baking, cooking and most of all spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will always be remembered for her big heart and willingness to help others. Irene died April 2, 2010 at the Linton Hospital. She is survived by her husband, Eugene of Strasburg, ND; one son and daughter-in-law: Kenny and Terri Getz of Jamestown, ND; six daughters and four sons-in-law: Connie Meakins of Bismarck, ND, Geraldine and George Feist of Sterling, ND, Dorothy and Blaine Doppler of Menoken, ND, Barb and Greg Van Beek of Strasburg, ND, Mary and Lynn Henke of Center, ND and Norma Getz of Kansas City, MO; eleven grandchildren: Christy Meakins, Chasidi Van Beek, Suzanne Van Beek, Kaitlyn Henke, Brian Getz, Keith Getz, Gene Feist, Dustin Henke, Darrell Van Beek, Gregory Van Beek and Allan Doppler; and two great grandchildren: Brittney Getz and Logan Van Beek; one brother and four sisters-in-law: Andy and Rita Feist of Strasburg, ND, Nancy Feist of Linton, ND, Ann Feist of Bismarck, ND and Margaret Feist of Rapid City, SD; three sisters and a brother-in-law: Rose and Roger Steffes of Cudahay, WI, Josephine Hanson of Mount Shasta, CA and Angie Lipp of Bismarck, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, John Meakins; one sister, Elizabeth Vetter and four brothers: Mike, Herman, Ray and Joe.
