Iva Wittmeier, 83, of Pollock, SD, died November 11, 2012 in Surprise, AZ. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Pollock Memorial Presbyterian Church, Pollock, SD with the Reverend Floyd Haan officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 12pm to 4pm at Myers funeral home, Linton and from 6pm to 9pm at the church with a prayer service at 7pm. Iva was born January 1, 1929 in Pollock, SD, the daughter of Henry and Marie (Van Diest) Vander Vorste. She was raised and educated in Pollock. She graduated from the Pollock High School in 1946. She also attended beauty school in Watertown, SD. Iva married Donald D. Wittmeier on November 24, 1949 in Pollock, SD. Following their marriage, they lived east of Pollock, where they still live today. Iva owned and operated Iva's Beauty Shop in Pollock. She was a beautician for more than 50 years. She was a member of the church choir, WIC and Pollock Craft Club. Iva enjoyed sewing, baking, gardening, puzzles and especially visiting with her family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Donald, Pollock, SD; two sons and daughters-in-law: Michael and Joan Wittmeier, Pollock, SD and Dean and Linda Wittmeier, Aberdeen, SD; one daughter, Marcia Bauer, Surprise, AZ; seven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Borr; sisters-in-law: Margaret Vander Vorste, Katie Van Der Vorste, Esther (Haoward) Reierson and Betty (Jerry) Rieker and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law, Jim Bauer; four brothers: John, Theodore, Arthur and Burnie; three sisters: Violet Olmsted, Margaret Meihak and Hazel Vander Vorste.
