Jacob Rutschke, 94, of Herreid, SD, died May 17, 2012 in the Strasburg Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am Monday, May 21, 2012 at Zion Lutheran Church, Zeeland, ND with the Reverend Eugene Roecker officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4:00pm to 9:00pm at the Myers Funeral Home, Linton and will continue for 1 hour before the services at the church on Monday. Jake was born October 21, 1917 on a farm near Zeeland, ND, the son of Jacob G. and Magdalena (Bauer) Rutschke. He attended country school. Jake married Ruth Bauer in Linton, ND on January 20, 1947. Following their marriage, they lived and farmed northwest of Artas, SD. Jake retired from farming in 1982, but continued to live on the farm. They moved into Herreid, SD in October of 2010. Jake had been a resident of the Strasburg Care Center, where he died on May 17, 2012. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where he sang in the church choir and was a member of Zeeland Senior Citizens. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, farming and visiting with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Ruth, Strasburg, ND; two brothers and a sister-in-law: Gerhardt Rutschke, Zeeland, ND, Melvin and Alciena Rutschke, Zeeland, ND; one sister, Ruth Reimer, Herreid, SD; a nephew and niece: Jerome and Dorinda Rutschke, Zeeland, ND and a great niece, Casondra Rutschke. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and sister-in-law: Edward and Amelia Rutschke; a sister, Freida Rutschke and a brother-in-law: Ferdinand Reimer.
