James Feist, 78, Zeeland, ND, passed away August 31, 2020, peacefully at his home.
A Mass of Christian Burial for James Feist will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 3, 2020 at St. Andrews Catholic Church, Zeeland, ND, with Father Katanga officiating.
Visitation will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at Myers Funeral Home; rosary to begin at 7:00 p.m. Due to Covid 19, we are requesting that everyone wears masks during the funeral service and prayer service.
Burial will follow at St John's Catholic Cemetery, Zeeland.
The family invites everyone for a time of fellowship following the burial at St Andrews Catholic Church.
James was the third child to Mike and Elizabeth (Streifel) Feist on December 14, 1941. He attended a one room farm school for eight years and then began working on the farm for his father until he went to the army in 1960. James was honorably discharged in 1962. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 54, Linton, ND. He was also a lifetime member of the Eagles Post 2237, Bismarck, ND.
In 1962 James met Marie Krumm at Hague and they were married at St Mary's Catholic Church in Hague, ND on June 10, 1963. They were married for 57 years this June.
James played in 2 old times bands for many years, Melody Trio and the Night Owls.
James greatest passion was farming. He farmed grain, raised cattle and milked dairy cows for many years.
James is survived by his wife, Marie; children, Dennis (Wendy) Feist, Herreid, SD, Melanie (Perry) Ryckman, Mandan, ND, Mark Feist, Zeeland, ND, Veronica (Wayne) Peterson, Wilton, ND, Mike (Jodi) Feist, Herreid, SD, Amanda (Jaden) Roehrich, Wilton, ND, Bethany (Mike) Heilman, Bismarck, ND; 19 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Raymond (Loretta Feist); brother-in-law, Frances Schatz and many nieces and nephews.
James is preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Elizabeth (Streifel) Feist; sister, Barbara Schatz and nephew Randy Schatz; many uncles, aunts and cousins.
