James Wald, 74, of Bismarck, ND, formerly of Zeeland, ND, died July 10, 2013 in a Bismarck hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am Monday, July 15, 2013 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Zeeland with Fr. Paul Eberle officiaiting. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4pm to 9pm at Myers Funeral Home, Linton. There will be a prayer service at 7:30pm. James was born May 21, 1939 on a farm near Zeeland, ND, the son of George and Mary (Salwei) Wald. He attended country school. Jim helped his parents on the family farm during his teenage years. Jim married Caroline Miller at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Hague, ND on June 19, 1961. Following their marriage, they lived on the family farm where they raised their five boys. In 1980, they retired from farming and moved to Bismarck. James worked for Dakota Sanitation for 5 years. He then worked for Hedahls for 6 years before retiring. He enjoyed games shows, watching tv, playing solitaire and playing pool. He loved to visit with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren which were his pride and joy. He is survived by his wife, Caroline Wald, Bismarck, ND; five sons and daughters-in-law: Dion and Michelle Wald, Bismarck, ND, Kevin and Melinda Wald, Gonzales, LA, Darryl Wald, Baton Rouge, LA, Greg and Tina Wald, Bismarck, ND and Jeff Wald, Bismarck, ND; three grandchildren: Morgan, Brandon and Katie; a brother and sister-in-law: Richard and Audria Wald, Buffalo, MN; and a sister and brother-in-law: Janice and Frank King, Sioux Falls, SD. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.
